Torlundy House is located in the quiet rural village of Torlundy some 3 miles north of Fort William on the A82 Inverness road. Torlundy is made up of clusters of houses mainly down side roads off the A82. Torlundy House is in a small collection of houses in an area of Torlundy called "Happy Valley". Yes, all guest rooms at Torlundy House are ensuite.
We are travelling with a baby/child or young teenager, do you have a family room?
Torlundy House does not have the facilities for babies and toddlers. Teenagers over the age of 12 years are welcome so long as they can stay in their own room/bed and are charged at the full adult price.
Do you have any tourist information available?
Yes all rooms have a book containing tourist information about the Highlands and a file we have put together covering other more local matters and with details of some suggested tours to help you fully experience the area. We also have a large collection of leaflets in our reception area and a selection of sample menus from local restaurants. We also carry guide sheets produced by the Outdoor Capital of the UK to help you get the best out of the area.
We won't have a car, is this a problem?
Torlundy House is 3 miles from Fort William and local restaurants. If you do not have a car then you will be reliant on taxis or local buses. The buses are infrequent and do not run late at night. A taxi into Fort William will cost about £7.00 each way. We recommend that guests who stay with us have their own transport in order to get the best out of their stay.
How do I get to you on public transport?
You will need to use the local bus service which is infrequent and does not run late at night or a taxi. See the previous FAQ.
Do you accept credit and debit cards?
Yes, we accept all major credit and debit cards including AMEX. Due to the high charges levied on us we reserve the right to charge a small supplement if you settle your account by credit card. We do not charge for payments by debit card or when you pay a deposit for your booking by credit card. We also accept payment by cash. We can also accept deposits via PayPal.
Do you allow smoking in the house?
ABSOLUTELY NOT IN THE HOUSE

We like to welcome all to Torlundy House, however we do not have disabled access or facilities, sorry.
I'm not good with stairs, do you have a ground floor room?
Torlundy House has 4 steps up into the house. Most guest rooms are on the ground floor. May we suggest you telephone us to discuss your needs further.
When can we check in?
Usually after 4pm (16.00hrs). If you arrive before this time we cannot guarantee to be here for you as the afternoons are when we catch up with friends, run errands and do the shopping. We can arrange a bag drop off in the morning if you telephone us beforehand. Please note that we do not reserve rooms after 5pm (17.00hrs) unless a deposit has been paid.
What is check-out time?
10am (10.00hrs) at the latest so that we can get all rooms ready for the next guest or your return later in the day.
Can we stay at Torlundy House throughout the day?
Not really, we have to service and clean rooms ready for return or the next guest and as Torlundy House is our home we need the time and space to get on with the job. Also we are a Bed & Breakfast establishment, not a hotel so we do not really have the facilities for guests to remain in the house all day.
What is the latest time we can check in?
We prefer guests to check in between 4pm and 8pm (16.00hrs and 20.00hrs). If you are likely to check in after this time please tell us when making your reservation, we will try to help you.
What time do you lock up at night?
We do not operate a "curfew", all we ask is that if you come back late you do so as quietly as possible to avoid disturbing other guests, and our neighbours.
We are planning our holiday, flights etc. can you hold rooms for us while we finalise our arrangements?
Yes we can do this for you. Normally we will take a provisional booking and advise you how long we will hold the rooms. If you do not confirm by this time we automatically cancel the booking and notify you accordingly.
Do you require a deposit when making a booking?
Yes, we normally require a deposit or provision of credit card details. Credit card details can be telephoned to us. We ask no more than a hotel would.
Do you provide evening meals?
No, there are many very good places to eat out in Fort William. If you wish we can send you details in advance and make recommendations. We will also make reservations on your behalf.
Do you have off road parking?
Yes we have ample off road parking and provide hard standings for our guests with motorcycles.
Do you cater for vegetarian breakfasts?
Yes, our breakfast menu has a wide range of items suitable for vegetarians. If we know that you are vegetarian we will endeavour to get some "veggie" sausages for you.
Do you provide packed lunches?
No, there are so many places in Fort William (supermarkets, local shops, garages) that have a wide range of sandwiches and other picnic foods that we cannot match. If you want to put your sandwiches in our fridge over night that is OK.
